♥️ WE CARDIO YOU♥️
Doing cardio is not only recommended, but numerous scientific studies have conclusively shown that it is one of the best ways to care for and strengthen the heart.
Studies and figures on cardio and the heart
Evidence shows that regular practice of cardiovascular exercise significantly reduces the risk of heart disease, heart attacks, and other problems related to the cardiovascular system. An analysis of more than 300 studies found that dedicating at least 30 minutes a day to cardio can reduce the risk of coronary disease by between 11% and 18%, as well as decrease overall mortality by up to 40%. Walking, running, cycling, or swimming have also been linked to improved blood flow and greater vessel elasticity, benefiting the heart’s response capacity during exertion.
Physiological mechanisms
Cardiovascular training causes adaptations in the heart, such as increased coronary microcirculation, the formation of collateral vessels, and improved pumping function. In addition, the cardiac muscle becomes more efficient, allowing greater oxygenation of the tissues and a reduction in blood pressure through the release of vasodilatory substances. All this leads to a lower risk of hypertension, dyslipidemia, and diseases derived from a sedentary lifestyle.
Exercise in prevention and cardiac rehabilitation
There are not only benefits for healthy people: cardiovascular exercise is safe and effective even in patients with diagnosed heart conditions, where it helps reduce hospitalizations and improves quality of life. Rehabilitation programs based on aerobic exercise have managed to significantly reduce the risk of mortality and new cardiac complications, both in primary and secondary prevention.
Official recommendations
Most international medical and cardiology societies recommend doing moderate-intensity cardiovascular exercise (brisk walking, jogging, swimming, cycling) for at least 150 minutes per week, split across several sessions, as a fundamental strategy for the prevention and treatment of cardiovascular diseases.
In short, science strongly supports incorporating regular cardio, not only to protect the heart but to extend life and improve overall health, making it a powerful tool for both prevention and recovery of cardiovascular health.
